Company Co-Founder
Marjorie Weaver, 94
Dies 10-17-2009
Marjorie
Isabel Weaver went to live with the Lord on October 17, 2009. Marjorie was born
to Clarence Guy and Ethel Elizabeth (Haley) Freed on April 16, 1915 in Apple
Creek, Ohio. On November 1, 1933, Marjorie and the love of her life, Cloyd
Cornell Weaver were married in West Virginia. Cloyd went to be with the Lord on
Thanksgiving Day 1985. Cloyd and Marjorie owned and operated Weaver Coal Company
in Wooster, Ohio during the 1930s and 1940s. Marjorie worked in accounts
receivable and also routinely drove the company truck to West Virginia mines to
pick up coal for their business. During World War II Marjorie participated in
the war effort by working in a factory making tailfin spars for dirigibles, and
by going door-to-door encouraging people to buy war bonds. The Weavers moved to
Pennsylvania in 1961, then to Michigan in 1964. In 1975 they co-founded Comfort
Control Supply Co., Inc., which now does business as Johnstone Supply of West
Michigan and has expanded to five locations. Cloyd and Marjorie were faithful
members of Lakeshore Baptist Church for many years. When it became difficult for
Marjorie to drive, she transferred her church membership to Trinity Reformed
Church which was closer to her home. In 1998 Marjorie sold her much loved farm
along the Pigeon River in West Olive to Ottawa County. The County established
Pine Bend Park there and named Cloyd and Marjorie’s former house “The Weaver
House” in honor of them. Marjorie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law,
Mary and Cal Garbrecht of Grand Haven; her four grandchildren: Sarah Marie
(Sean) Fitzgerald, Lynnwood, WA; Michelle (Bill) Fisher, Grand Haven; Randy
Garbrecht, Grand Haven; and Sheri (Michael) Sheneman, Grand Rapids; and by six
great grand children: Brandon Greeno, Kaitlyn Greeno, Autumn Fisher, Jaidyn
Fisher, Rissa Sheneman and Charlie Sheneman. She is also survived by a close
family friend, Louise Newton, and by two nieces and two nephews. In addition to
her husband, Marjorie’s three sisters: Delta Bruce of Port Hope, Ontario,
Canada; Jane Owenby of Franklin, NC; and Ruby Wolgamott of Wooster, Ohio
preceded her in death. A private family graveside service, officiated by Pastor
John Koedyer, was held at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven on October 19th.
Friends are invited to celebrate
Marjorie’s life at a Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Randy Bremmer and
Mr. David Eikenberry, on November 1st at Trinity Reformed Church, 1330 South
Ferry Street, Grand Haven at 4:00 p.m. Immediately following the service,
friends are invited to greet the family at a chicken dinner in the Fellowship
Room of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be
made to Meals on Wheels, 560 Seminole Road, Muskegon, MI 49444 or The Noah
Project (a no kill animal shelter), 5205 Airline Road, Muskegon, MI 49444.
